What do people ask us most about dent repair in Alcobendas?

Go to the home page

How much does paintless dent repair cost in Alcobendas?

It depends on the size, depth, position and material of the panel, so at Varillero Coche we always give a fixed, free quote from a photo. Send it on WhatsApp to +34 673 50 67 93 and we will reply within two working hours. As a guide, removing a dent without paint is usually cheaper than respraying the panel, because there are no paint materials or booth hours involved.

Where is Varillero Coche?

We are at C. Valgrande, 10, Nave 1, 28108 Alcobendas (Madrid), in the industrial estate a few minutes from the A-1. We are open Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 14:00 and from 15:00 to 18:00. If you prefer, we come to your home or office in Alcobendas and across North Madrid.

Is PDR better than a body shop?

If the paint is intact, PDR is the better option: it is faster, keeps the factory paint and leaves no trace in a valuation. A body and paint shop is the right choice when the paint is cracked or the metal is badly stretched. At Varillero Coche we tell you from the photo which case yours is.

How do I get a quote from a photo?

Send 2 or 3 photos of the dent on WhatsApp to +34 673 50 67 93 or use the form on this page. Take one photo from a distance showing the whole panel and another at an angle, in daylight, where you can see the reflection bend. Tell us the make, model and where the car is. That is enough for a fixed price and an estimated time.

How long does a dent repair take?

A parking dent takes 45 to 90 minutes and most are done in a single visit. A large dent on a bonnet or roof takes 2 to 5 hours, and a hail-damaged car 1 to 5 days. We give you the exact time with the quote.

Can paintless dent repair damage the paint?

No, as long as the paint is in good condition and the right technique is used. Before starting we measure paint thickness with a gauge to see if the panel is original or resprayed, because resprayed paint is more fragile. If we see a risk of it cracking, we tell you before touching anything.

What warranty do you give?

Every Varillero Coche repair comes with a 24-month written warranty. Properly worked metal does not sink back on its own, and we check it with you under the reflection lamp when you collect the car. You also get before and after photos.

Can you fix a dent today?

Often, yes: if you message us in the morning and it is a parking dent, we can usually see it that day or the next working day. It depends on the week, and the diary fills up faster in hail season. Message us on WhatsApp and we will give you the first free slot.

Do you come to my home?

Yes, we come to any customer in Alcobendas and North Madrid: San Sebastián de los Reyes, La Moraleja, Tres Cantos, North Madrid, Algete and Colmenar Viejo. We need a covered or shaded spot and a power socket. Long jobs, such as hail, are done at the workshop.

Do you work with insurers on hail repairs?

Yes, we prepare the dent map and photos the loss adjuster needs and coordinate the repair with your insurer if your policy covers hail. Note that hail is not covered by Spain's Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros but by your own policy. If you are not covered, we quote you directly.

Can you remove dents from aluminium panels?

Yes, although aluminium needs more time and controlled heat because it does not spring back as easily as steel. It is common on bonnets and wings of Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Tesla, Porsche and Volvo. We state it in the quote from the start.

When should I see a PDR technician before returning a lease car?

Ideally three to six weeks before the return date, so there is time if several panels need work. At the return inspection dents are charged as damage, and removing them without paint usually works out cheaper. We check the whole car under the lamp and quote panel by panel.

Paintless dent repair (PDR) · 6

What do people ask about paintless dent repair?

See the service page

What does PDR stand for?

PDR stands for paintless dent repair. In Spain it is also called desabollado sin pintar, sacabollos or simply the work of a varillero, after the rods (varillas) used.

Will the dent show after paintless repair?

If the paint was intact and the metal was not stretched, it will not: the reflection lamp lines run straight again. When we expect a small mark to remain, we tell you from the photo before we start.

Do you need to remove parts of the car?

Sometimes, to reach the back of the dent: a door trim, a tail light or the roof lining. We remove and refit them ourselves, with new clips if any break, and everything goes back as it was.

Can you fix a dent on a body line?

Often, yes, although it takes longer and the result depends on how sharp the crease is. If the metal has stretched over the line, a slight mark may remain, and we tell you beforehand.

How long does a PDR repair last?

It is permanent. Worked metal returns to its shape and does not sink back on its own, which is why we give a 24-month written warranty.

What if the dent does not come out well?

If the lines are not straight when we check with you, we keep working. If we find something that prevents a good result once panels are off, such as old filler underneath, we stop and explain before going on.

Hail damage repair · 6

What do people ask about hail damage repair?

See the service page

How many days does a hail repair take?

Between 1 and 5 working days depending on the number and size of the dents. A car with 30 or 40 small dents is usually done in a day; one with more than 150 across roof, bonnet and tailgate takes four or five.

Does the roof need replacing if there is a lot of hail damage?

Hardly ever. It is only considered for very large dents with broken paint or badly stretched metal.

Will my insurance pay for hail repair?

It depends on your policy: fully comprehensive policies and those including weather events usually cover it. Spain's Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros does not cover hail. Our hail insurance page explains it.

Can I keep using the car until it is repaired?

Yes. Hail does not affect the car's safety unless it has broken glass or lights. Just avoid taking it for a respray or a polish before we assess it.

How are the dents counted?

Panel by panel under the lamp, marking each dent with a washable pen and grading it by size. That gives us the dent map and the quote.

Do you repair hail damage at my address?

Cars with a few dents, yes. Cars with many are repaired at the Alcobendas workshop, because they take several days, controlled lighting and easy access to the roof.

Door dings and parking dents · 5

What do people ask about parking dents?

See the service page

Can I wait while you remove the dent?

Yes. A parking dent takes 45 to 90 minutes and you can wait at the workshop. If you prefer, we come to your home or office.

The dent has paint from the other car on it. Can it be removed?

Usually, yes. Paint transfer tends to sit on the lacquer and comes off with a light polish after the dent is out. If the scratch reaches the primer, we tell you beforehand.

Can several dents be fixed in the same visit?

Yes, and it works out better value than doing them separately. We check the whole car under the lamp and quote for every dent we find.

Is it worth claiming on insurance for a parking dent?

In most cases no, because the cost is usually below the excess or could affect your no-claims bonus. We quote first so you can decide.

How much does it cost to fix a door ding?

It depends on size, position and access. Send us a photo on WhatsApp and we will give you a fixed price within two working hours.

Bonnet, roof and wing dents · 5

What do people ask about bonnet, roof and wing dents?

See the service page

Can a roof dent be removed without taking the interior apart?

Sometimes, using glue pulling from outside. But usually we lower part of the roof lining to reach from inside, which gives a better result. We remove and refit it without marks.

What if the bonnet dent is right over a brace?

We work through the holes in the brace with thin rods or pull from outside. It is slower, but in most cases it can be done without paint.

How long does a large bonnet dent take?

Between 2 and 5 hours depending on size, depth and whether the bonnet is steel or aluminium. We give you the time with the quote.

Do you repair plastic front wings?

No. Some brands fit composite or plastic front wings, which cannot be dent-repaired. We check with a magnet or gauge before quoting.

What if the car has a panoramic roof?

The glass cannot be repaired, but the metal frame and other panels can. With a panoramic roof the access from inside changes and we take that into account in the quote.

Aluminium panel repair · 5

What do people ask about dents in aluminium?

See the service page

How do I know if my car has aluminium panels?

The quickest way is a magnet: it will not stick to aluminium. We always check before quoting.

Does it cost more to remove a dent from aluminium?

It usually takes longer than the same dent in steel, because we work with heat and in shorter steps. You will see it in the quote from the start.

Can heating the aluminium damage the paint?

No, if the temperature is controlled. We measure the surface temperature constantly and stay well below the point that would harm the paint.

Which brands use the most aluminium?

Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Land Rover, Porsche and Tesla, among others, use aluminium on bonnets, wings, doors or the whole body depending on the model.

Are there aluminium dents that cannot be removed without paint?

Yes. Aluminium tolerates stretching less than steel, so a sharp crease is more likely to need paint. We assess it from the photo.

Hail insurance claims and assessment · 6

What do people ask about hail and insurance?

See the service page

Does Spain's Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros cover hail?

No. Hail is not one of the Consorcio's extraordinary risks, so cover depends on your policy: usually fully comprehensive or a policy that includes weather events.

Can I choose where my hail damage is repaired?

It depends on your policy. Many allow free choice of repairer and others use approved workshops. Check the free choice clause or ask your insurer.

How long do I have to report the claim?

Spain's Insurance Contract Act sets a general deadline of seven days from when you become aware of the loss, unless your policy allows longer. It is best to do it as soon as possible.

Do I have to pay an excess?

If your policy has one, yes; you pay the excess and the insurer pays the rest. Your insurer confirms it when you open the claim.

What if my insurance does not cover hail?

We give you a fixed, direct quote. Paintless repair is usually much cheaper than a traditional repair with paint or panel replacement.

Do you prepare a report for the loss adjuster?

Yes: a dent map per panel, with number and size, and photos of each panel under the lamp. Many adjusters use it to assess without travelling.

Dealers, leasing and fleets · 5

What do businesses ask us?

See the service page

Do you work on our premises?

Yes. We bring the lamp, tools and power supply; all we need is a covered space and a power socket. If you prefer, we collect the cars and repair them at the workshop.

Do you invoice per car or per batch?

Whichever you prefer. For recurring work we agree a batch quote or a rate per type of dent, with a monthly invoice itemised by registration.

Do you provide a report per vehicle?

Yes: before and after photos under the lamp, repaired panels and notes, ordered by registration or VIN.

How much notice do you need?

For scheduled visits, a week. For urgent jobs, such as a car being delivered tomorrow, we try to come the same day.

Do you repair hail damage across a whole forecourt?

Yes. After a hailstorm we count car by car, give you a report per vehicle and plan the repair by delivery priority.

Lease return and sale preparation · 5

What do people ask about lease returns?

See the service page

How far ahead should I bring the car?

Ideally three to six weeks before the return. That leaves time if several panels need work or something needs paint at another shop.

Do leasing companies charge for small dents?

It depends on their fair wear and tear guide. Many accept very small marks but charge for dents above a certain size or with damaged paint. Check your company's guide.

Will the inspection show that the dent was removed?

No. Because nothing is painted, the gauge reads the original thickness and the panel is as it left the factory.

Do you also check scratches and wheels?

We check the whole body and point out what we see, but our speciality is paintless dent removal. For deep scratches or wheels we recommend a specialist.

Is it worth it when selling the car?

Yes, especially if you are selling privately or to a trader who checks with a gauge. A car with no resprayed panels sells faster and negotiates better.

Mobile dent repair · 5

What do people ask about mobile dent repair?

See the service page

What do you need to work at my address?

A covered or shaded spot, such as a garage or car park, and a 230 V socket. In direct sun or rain we cannot read the panel properly.

Do you charge for travel?

If there is a travel charge, it is included in the fixed quote we give you before confirming the appointment, so there are no surprises.

Which jobs do you not do on site?

Hail damage with many dents and multi-day jobs, which we do at the workshop for the light and space. One or several dents, yes.

Can you come to my office car park?

Yes, if the car park allows it and there is a socket nearby. Many businesses in Alcobendas and North Madrid let us work in their car park.

Do I need to be there?

At the start, to look at the dent together, and at the end, to check the result under the lamp. During the repair you do not.
